ABOUT THE ARTIST

Pat Hayden Ryan (BA, BA(ed), MA(Art Ed.) was born in scenic Petite Forte, Placentia Bay, where she spends most of her summers. A former teacher and sessional instructor at MUN's Faculty of Education, she now devotes her energy full time to her love of visual art.

Pat is a strong advocate for the arts and holds a firm belief on the value of art in everyone's life and especially in the value of integrating the arts in the school curriculum. She has done extensive work in coordinating instruction for PD days for teachers, for ArtsSmarts and Visiting Artist Programs that are offered to Primary and Elementary classes.

From her Artist Statement, Pat says:
My paintings reflect a sense of place, my love of NL, and the preservation of it's cultural image. Choosing watercolour as my primary media. I use my heritage - the sea, land, and people - for inspiration.”
